There were plenty of fast hands at this year’s NZIMLS Conference in August, with attendees putting their skills to the test in the Lab Supply Pipette Challenge.
The challenge was simple: disassemble and reassemble a BRAND pipette as quickly as possible. Competition was strong throughout the event, but Aimee Kinzett ultimately claimed the top spot with an impressive time of just 19 seconds.
Aimee is a Medical Laboratory Scientist with 13 years of experience and currently works in Quality at the New Zealand Blood Service.
As the winner of the challenge, Aimee earned a BRAND pipette of her choice. Rather than keeping the prize herself, she generously chose to donate it to the Pacific Paramedical Training Centre (PPTC), where it can be put to good use supporting laboratory training and development.
It was a fitting end to a great few days at NZIMLS, where our team had the opportunity to connect with laboratory professionals from across New Zealand, talk science and showcase some of the products and solutions we provide to laboratories around the country.
A huge congratulations to Aimee on setting the winning time, and for choosing to pass her prize on to support the next generation of laboratory professionals.
Thank you to everyone who visited the Lab Supply booth and took on the Pipette Challenge. We’ll be keeping the stopwatch handy for the next one!
